German Shepherd Dogs are a rather young Breed, being developed only since the 19th Century. As the Name suggests they are a german herding Dog, despite being known for doing an array of other Jobs. There's three general herding Styles, the more well known ones are usually performed by Dogs like the Border Collie and the Austrailian Shepherd Dog, it's what most People think of when hearing "Dog herding Sheep". German Shepherds have a less known Style known as Tending, where the Dog becomes a mobile Fence, running a Border around Sheep, making sure none stray. This is also a contributer to their excellence in most other arias, for this Style to work a Dog needs high Stamina, Work Drive, Diciplin and Inteligence - since the Dog will need to be able to make Decissions by itself - making the GSD one of the best examples of a Dog that needs a Job.
